Scope 1 Mobile Equipment Emissions 2024 The Mobile Equipment sector returns county-level emissions for engine-related emissions which occur off roadways, This sector includes emissions from 16 different types of vehicles that do not typically drive on roads. These machines include lawnmowers, golf carts, construction equipment, and farming machinery. Data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Emissions Inventory (NEI) are used to generate emissions estimates for this sector.

Mobile Equipment Sector Definition #

Mobile Equipment emissions are defined as off-road mobile sources that use gasoline, diesel, and other fuels. This definition is set by the EPA and follows conventions in the NEI.

Methods summary #

NEI Nonroad data is filtered according to the criteria in Table 5.1.1 and for CO emissions. CO₂ estimates are then calculated using emissions factors, and the data is aggregated by fuel_id, state, and county.
